What Does it Cover?

Section I - Own Damage

Go Digit Two Wheeler Insurance provides you with financial protection for any loss or damage that may occur to your bike and its accessories in the following situations –

  • Fires, explosions, self-ignition, or lightning.
  • Tempests, typhoons, hurricanes, floods, storms, cyclones, inundations, hailstorms, and frost.
  • Landslides or rockslides
  • Burglaries, housebreaking, or theft.
  • Malicious acts.
  • Terrorist activities.
  • Riots or strikes.
  • Earthquakes, including fire and shock damage.
  • Accidental external damage.
  • Damage/loss incurred while the car is in transit, whether via road, rail, inland waterway, lift, elevator, or air.

Under Go Digit Bike Insurance, if you raise a claim with the insurance company due to any loss or damage to your bike because of the situations listed above, you will be responsible for paying a deduction on depreciation for any replaced car parts, as below -

  • Rubber, nylon, plastic parts, tyres, tubes, batteries, and airbags - There will be a 50% deduction.
  • Fibreglass components - There will be a 30% deduction.
  • Glass bike parts - No deduction will be applicable.
  • For all other parts (including wooden ones), the depreciation rate will be based on the table below  –

  • When it comes to any painting expenses you may incur during the bike repairs, a 50% depreciation rate will apply exclusively to the material cost. If you get a single consolidated bill for painting charges, the insurance company will consider 25% of the total painting charges as the material component when applying the associated depreciation.

Section II: Liability to Third Parties

Go Digit Bike Insurance will provide you with third-party liability compensation in the situations listed below –

  • Bodily injury caused to a third party because of your bike.
  • Death caused to a third party because of your bike.
  • Any damages to property which are not owned by you or held under your custody because of your bike.

Section III: Personal Accident Cover for Owner Driver

The Personal Accident Cover under Go Digit Two Wheeler Insurance plays an important part. It acts as a financial safety net against unfortunate situations like death or physical disability due to a road accident. This coverage is included with your bike insurance policy. It is similar to general insurance, which offers financial support.

In the untoward event of the owner-driver suffering bodily injury or passing away, the insurance company will provide compensation on the basis of this table -

What is not Included in the Coverage?

The insurance company will not be responsible for offering any kind of compensation under Go Digit Two Wheeler Insurance –

  • Any consequential loss, depreciation, wear and tear, mechanical or electrical breakdowns, or failures.
  • Any damage to tyres and tubes, unless your bike is damaged at the same time, in which case the insurance company's liability will be limited to 50% of the bike’s replacement cost.
  • Any accidental loss/damage that occurs when you or anyone driving the bike with your knowledge and consent is under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
     

Insured Declared Value (IDV)

The Insured Declared Value (IDV) represents the estimated market price of your two-wheeler. It is the maximum amount (that is, the sum assured) that you are liable to receive from your bike insurance plan when you file a claim. The IDV of your bike changes every year because of depreciation.

Here’s how the IDV changes as your bike ages and undergoes depreciation  -

General Exceptions under Go Digit Two Wheeler Insurance

Under Go Digit Bike Insurance, the insurance company will not be liable to pay any compensation in the following cases –

  • Any accidental loss, damage, or liability that happens outside the specified geographical limits.
  • Any claims origination from contractual obligations.
  • Any loss, damage, or liability when your car is used in ways not permitted by the 'Limitations as to Use' or when it is driven by someone other than the designated driver as stated in the driver's clause.
  • Any loss or damage to property, any associated expenses resulting from any consequential loss.
  • Any type of liability arising directly or indirectly from ionising radiations or radioactivity contamination resulting from nuclear fuel combustion. Here, combustion includes any self-sustaining nuclear fission process.
  • Any loss, damage, or liability directly or indirectly resulting from nuclear weapons material.
  • Any loss, damage, or liability directly or indirectly caused by or connected to war, invasion, rebellion, military, etc. or any consequences of these events. If you make a claim in these situations, you need to prove that the occurring loss, damage, or liability is unrelated to and not caused because of these events or their effects. If you don’t have any proof for this, the insurance company will not be responsible for paying any compensation related to such a claim.

 

Add-Ons Available With Go Digit Bike Insurance

  • Consumables Cover

If you opt for this add-on by paying an extra premium, the insurance company will provide you with compensation for the replacement or replenishment costs of consumables with new ones in case you raise a partial loss claim for your bike and/or its accessories because of an event covered by section 1 (own damage) of this policy.

Here, consumables mean any item of the bike which is not damaged during an accident and has a limited life span or which is not completely or partially used up when utilised. Once used, they are considered unfit for any sort of reuse and need to be replaced for your bike to be fully repaired. Some examples include bolts, nuts, brake oil, fuel filters, and items of a similar nature, except fuel.

The claims made under this add-on are subject to the conditions under your bike insurance plan.

This add-on will not provide compensation for any general exceptions of the policy and, in the following cases -

  1. If your bike insurance is not valid.
  2. If the own damage claim you’ve raised is not payable or admissible.
  3. If the insurance company doesn’t approve of the consumables for replacement.
  4. If the claim is made after 30 days of the said loss/damage. The insurance company may accept your claim at their discretion based on the reasons you provide in writing.
  5. If your bike isn’t repaired at a repair shop authorised by Go Digit.
  6. If the claimed loss is covered by any other kind of insurance.
  7. If your bike has sustained total or constructive total loss.
  8. If the insurance company hasn’t gotten a chance to inspect or evaluate the loss/damage before the repair work has begun.
  • Parts Depreciation Protect

If you opt for this add-on under Go Digit Bike Insurance by paying an extra premium, the insurance company will cover the depreciation amount of the evaluated damaged parts of your bike if it has faced a partial loss. This coverage will be extended to the applicable parts as per the bike insurance you own.
If you have agreed to a copayment clause, your contribution will be till the extent decided by you on the depreciation for the approved parts for every partial loss claim.
This add-on’s coverage is subject to a few conditions -

  1. Your bike should be repaired at a repair shop authorised by Go Digit. If you get it repaired elsewhere, you’ll be liable to pay an additional copayment of 20% of the approved claim amount.
  2. It can be used up to the maximum number of times specified in the policy schedule.
  3. The replacement of parts should be approved by the insurance company.

The add-on under Go Digit Two Wheeler Insurance will not provide coverage for any general exclusions of the policy, and in the following cases -

  1. If your bike insurance is invalid.
  2. If the own damage claim you’ve raised is not payable or admissible.
  3. If the repair costs are not approved by the insurance company.
  4. Any depreciation of tyres or the battery of your bike.
  5. If the claim is made after 30 days of the said loss/damage. The insurance company may accept your claim at their discretion based on the reasons you provide in writing.
  6. If the claimed loss is covered by any other kind of insurance.
  7. If the insurance company hasn’t gotten a chance to inspect or evaluate the loss/damage before the repair work has begun.
     
  • Engine and Gear Protect

If you opt for this add-on under Go Digit Two Wheeler Insurance by paying an extra premium, your bike insurance policy’s coverage will be extended to consequential damages to internal child parts of the gearbox or engine or the transmission assembly happening due to any damage, water entry, leakage of coolant/lubricating oil.
Here, consequential damage means any sort of damage that is not directly caused by a covered event. It has to happen as a consequence of the same.

The insurance company will compensate you for the following -

  1. Costs associated with the repair or replacement of the engine’s internal child components, like camshaft, cylinder head, piston sleeve, oil pump, etc.
  2. The repair or replacement of any affected gearbox or transmission assembly child components like sensors, gear shafts, shifters, etc.
  3. Any labour costs associated with the repair/replacement of damaged child parts.
  4. Any expenses related to consumables, including nuts, bolts, coolant, and lubricating oil.
  5. Any depreciation of replacement parts which are approved by the insurance company.

The add-on’s coverage is subject to the policy’s conditions and some additional ones -

  1. Any claims you make under this add-on will be accepted by the insurance company only if you have proof that your bike was stuck in a waterlogged area, which resulted in water entry and caused damage to the engine’s internal components.
  2. You can make one claim under this cover per policy period.

Along with the general exceptions of your bike insurance policy, this add-on will not pay any compensation in the following cases -

  1. Any consequential damage caused by an accident (except for the loss/damage covered by the add-on).
  2. If your vehicle has sustained a total loss or a constructive total loss.
  3. If you inform the insurance company about the damage 3 days after the loss/damage occurred. If the insurance company is satisfied with your reasons for the delay, they may condone the same.
  4. Any loss/damage that is covered by another insurance plan, manufacturer’s warranty, recall campaign, etc.
  5. If you’ve carried out any bike repair without the insurance company’s prior approval.
  6. Any loss/deterioration/consequential damage to your bike’s engine/gearbox/transmission assembly because -
    • There was a delay in retrieving the bike from the waterlogged area, telling the garage to begin the repairs after the surveyor’s evaluation, or starting the repair work from the garage’s end.
    • You didn’t undertake the minimum amount of reasonable care to protect your bike from further damage/loss.
    • Water inundation is not proved in the case of water entry associated loss/damage.
  • Breakdown Assistance

Under Go Digit Two Wheeler Insurance, if you opt for this add-on by paying an extra premium, the insurance company or assistance service provider will provide you with certain services or benefits when you need bike-related help.
These services will depend on your bike insurance plan and its policy schedule and can include -

  • Flat Battery 
    If your bike cannot be moved due to a malfunctioning battery within the plan’s geographic limits, the insurance company will give you an alternate arrangement to help make your bike mobile. This will be offered if you haven’t taken your bike for repairs. The insurance company will bear the labour and conveyance costs, while you’ll be responsible for the expenses of charging or replacing the battery.
     
  • Spare Keys
    If you lose your bike’s keys (within the plan’s geographic limits), the insurance company will arrange a pickup and delivery of the spare keys to the location of your bike. If the spare keys aren’t available for any reason, the insurance company will send bike technicians to the location to unlock the bike.
    The insurance company will cover the costs associated with labour and conveyance. Remember that you’ll need to submit proof of identity to prove that you own the bike.
     
  • Flat Tyre
    If your bike cannot be moved because of a flat tyre and if this has happened within the geographical limit of your policy, the insurance company will either -
    • Arrange a bike technician to replace the flat tyre with a spare tyre at the breakdown place.
    • Arrange the flat tyre to be delivered to the nearest repair place and bring it back to the breakdown location if repairs aren’t possible there.


Please keep in mind that the insurance company will cover labour and conveyance costs, while you’ll need to cover the expenses related to any material or spare parts along with other incidental costs.

  • Minor Repairs
    If your bike sustains a small mechanical or electrical fault and fails to move, the insurance company will offer assistance over the phone to discuss solutions related to the fault or error. They may also send a bike technician to the place of breakdown to perform minor repair work (i.e. repairs that can be done at the site of breakdown, need no spares, and can be carried out within 45 minutes). The insurance company will cover the labour and conveyance costs.

     
  • Towing Facility
    If your bike cannot be moved or is unfit for driving on the road and cannot be repaired at the location of the accident or breakdown, the insurance company will provide you with towing services to the nearest repair shop authorised by Go Digit.

     
  • Urgent Message Relay To Relatives
    If your bike cannot be moved due to an accident or breakdown, the insurance company will send urgent messages to any persons requested by you via the available modes of communication.

     
  • Medical Coordination
    If your bike gets into an accident due to which you or any passenger need medical care, the insurance company will arrange the contact details of the nearest medical facility.

     
  • Fuel Assistance
    If your bike cannot be moved because of an empty fuel tank (within the plan’s geographic limits), the insurance company will provide you with a fuel supply of up to 5 litres at the place of the breakdown. And, in case your bike is immobile because of contaminated fuel (within the plan’s geographic limits), the insurance company will tow it to the closest garage to empty the fuel tank.

    Keep in mind that you’ll need to cover the fuel costs as well as the expenses associated with towing the bike.

     
  • Taxi Benefits
    If your bike cannot be moved due to any accident or breakdown at a distance of at least 100 kilometres from your city of residence, the insurance company will offer the driver along with the pillion rider free travel to a single destination (to the maximum limit laid down in the policy schedule).
    Provided that the repair time is more than 6 hours from when the accident or breakdown happened, and the number of people riding on the bike is not more than the permissible capacity.

If the insurance company cannot arrange this service, they’ll ask you to get a taxi or other mode of transportation. The bill for the same will be reimbursed as per the pre-authorised amount.

  • Accommodation Benefits
    If your bike is unable to be moved because of an accident or breakdown, at least 100 kilometres from your residence, the insurance company will offer you and the pillion rider hotel accommodation or any other arrangements for a stay for one day.

    This coverage is subject to a few conditions -
    • The per-day amount will be as per the maximum limit laid down in the policy schedule and the actual persons present at the time of the loss.
    • The coverage will be offered only if the number of people on the bike is within the permissible limits.
    • The repair work of your bike should take more than 6 hours from when the accident or breakdown took place.
    • No accommodation benefits will be offered if taxi services have already been provided.

If the insurance company is unable to provide accommodation benefits, they may ask you to arrange your own accommodation and then submit a reimbursement for the same based on the pre-authorised amount.

  • Legal Advice
    If your bike gets into an accident and you need legal advice for the same, the insurance company will arrange the contact details of an appropriate legal advisor from an area nearby. The insurance company will inform you about the charges that are payable to the legal advisor and the ones that have to be covered by you.

Note: Under Breakdown Assistance, ‘geographical limit’ means a radius of 500 kilometres from the centre point of the city where you reside. And, ‘city of residence’ means the city that was mentioned by you in your address when you bought the bike insurance policy.
Breakdown assistance coverage is subject to a few conditions -

  1. The benefits provided under the coverage can be used up to 4 times during a policy period. Benefits like fuel assistance, taxi services, and accommodation benefits can be used only up to 2 times per policy period.
  2. The claims you make under this add-on are subject to the T&Cs of your bike insurance plan.
  3. The cities where this coverage is provided can change. The list is available on the insurance company’s website.

Breakdown assistance coverage will not provide compensation for the general exceptions under your bike insurance, and in the following cases -

  1. If your bike can safely be moved on its own power to the closest workshop or dealer.
  2. Any loss/damage because of circumstances like theft, earthquakes, terrorist activities, Act of God events, confiscation, or intervention by any govt. authorities, etc.
  3. The expenses associated with any bike parts, components, consumables, repair materials, etc.
  4. Any repair or labour costs, except 45 minutes of roadside labour at the accident location in the case of small repairs.
  5. Any loss/damage that has happened because of a law-breaking action of yours.
  6. Any loss/damage to your bike if it has been used or driven contradictory to what is mentioned in the owner’s or manufacturer’s manual.
  7. Any claims for services that have been utilised without the prior approval of the insurance company.
  • Tyre Protect Cover

If you opt for this add-on cover under Go Digit Bike Insurance by paying an extra premium, the insurance company will offer you a reimbursement for -

  1. The expenses of replacing a damaged bike tyre(s). It will be replaced with a new equivalent or near equivalent, which has the same make and specs as the original.
  2. The labour costs incurred for removing plus refitting the tyre
  3. Wheel balancing costs

This reimbursement will be offered if it arises out of any loss/damage to your bike’s tyres or tubes because of any accident, causing the tyre to be unfit for further use if there’s a bulge, burst, cut, or damage.

The coverage is subject to the policy’s T&Cs, as well as a few more conditions -

  • The claim amount will be based on the following table -

  • The tyre protect benefit can be used for up to 2 tyres of your bike for each year of the policy period.
  • If the loss/damage to the tyre is because of an event covered by the policy and your bike is damaged as well, the benefit under this add-on will be equal to the admissible claim amount according to the table above minus the amount payable under own-damage coverage.
  • If you replace your bike’s tyre(s), you’ll need to inform the insurance company and give them details like the make, model, serial number, invoice copy, etc. If you fail to do this, the costs will not be covered.

The add-on under Go Digit Bike Insurance will not provide any sort of compensation for the general exceptions of the bike insurance policy, and in these cases -

  1. For expenses related to punctures or tyre repair work.
  2. Damages stemming from low quality workmanship during repairs or manufacturing/assembly, unauthorised repair work, etc.
  3. Damages as a consequence of any actions contradicting the operating instructions laid down in the two-wheeler manufacturer’s manual. This includes instructions related to tyre pressure, rally, unapproved modifications, maximum load, number of passengers, racing, and more.
  4. Any inconsequential aspects that do not affect your bike’s performance, like small damages, tiny cuts, scratches, noises, etc.
  5. Damages arising from storage or transportation that isn’t proper.
  6. Adjustment of tyres/tubes/wheels and their routine maintenance.
  7. Wheel alignment or wheel balancing if the tyre replacement is not admissible.
  8. If you repair the bike at a repair shop that is not authorised by the Go Digit.
  9. If the insurance company has not been given the opportunity to survey the loss/damage before the repair work begins.
  10. If the loss is covered by a recall campaign, manufacturer warranty, or other packages.
  11. If the tyre(s) has been used for its complete specified life span according to the guidelines laid down by the manufacturer.
  12. Any loss/damage that occurs because of neglectful behaviour by not carrying out the specified periodic maintenance.
  13. If the batch number of the damaged tyre(s) varies from the model, make, or batch number laid down in the policy schedule.
  14. Any theft of the bike’s tyre(s).
  15. Loss/damage to the wheel’s accessories, rims, suspension, or other parts/accessories of the bike that have stemmed from the damage to the tyre(s).
  • Return to Invoice Cover

This add-on cover under Go Digit Bike Insurance basically pays you the cost of a new bike of the same or equivalent make, model, features, and specifications minus the amount payable under your bike insurance, if it is -

  1. Declared a total loss, constructive total loss, or total theft, and you own a comprehensive cover OR
  2. Declared a total loss or constructive total loss, and you own a standard cover.

If, in any case, the same make/model/variant has been discontinued, the insurance company’s responsibility under Digit Two Wheeler Insurance will be the balance amount with respect to the last available invoice cost of the bike.
You will also receive the following benefits under this add-on available under Go Digit Bike Insurance -

  1. First time registration costs of the new bike.
  2. Road tax.
  3. An insurance plan for the new bike. This will include own damage coverage, third-party liability coverage, and any add-ons that you had opted for in your original bike insurance plan - if you choose to insure the new bike with Digit.
  4. Expenses related to any accessories insured under section 1 of the plan. These shouldn’t be factory-fitted items.

The Return to Invoice coverage is subject to the plan’s T&CS, along with certain additional conditions -

  1. The insurance company will not factor in depreciation to calculate the loss if a total loss or constructive total loss happens.
  2. You will need to foot a copayment percentage of the approved claim amount. This information is available in the policy schedule.
  3. The compensation provided will be the full and final settlement of the insurance company’s responsibility under the add-on.
  4. If a total theft has taken place, the claim payment will be based on the submission of the Final Investigation Report of the police. It will be paid after 90 days have passed.

The Return to Invoice add-on available under Go Digit Two Wheeler Insurance will not provide coverage for the general exceptions listed in your bike insurance plan, as well as in the following cases -

  1. If the total loss, constructive total loss, or total theft is not covered under section 1 (own damage) of the bike insurance plan.
  2. If the bank or finance company (whose interest is endorsed) does not agree.
  3. Any costs related to accessories not insured under section 1 (own damage) of the policy or were not fitted as OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) parts.
  4. If your bike is found within 90 days of the theft occurring, unless the Final Investigation Report or Non-Traceable Report is submitted.
  5. Any claim which doesn’t amount to a total or constructive total loss.
  • Daily Conveyance Benefit

If your claim for any loss or damage to your bike due to an accident is approved under section 1 (own damage) of your bike insurance plan, the insurance company will offer you compensation for any transportation costs you incur when the bike is being repaired and is unavailable for use.

The insurance company will offer the compensation in either of the following ways -

  1. They will pay you a fixed allowance amount daily, or
  2. They will give you coupons from popular taxi services (like Ola, Uber, etc.) equal to the daily allowance amount.

The maximum number of days this compensation will be provided for, the daily allowance amount, and the time excess will be as per the bike insurance policy’s schedule.

The  coverage under this add-on is subject to the T&Cs under Go Digit Bike Insurance, as well as certain additional conditions -

  • The calculation of the eligible number of days for partial loss, total loss, and constructive total loss claims will be done in the following manner -
     
    • Start date: The eligible number of days will be calculated from the date of the first loss evaluation of the bike conducted at a repair shop authorised by Digit.
       
    • End date: The eligible number of days will be calculated till the date when the bike is repaired and ready to be delivered.

This calculation is obviously subject to the maximum number of eligible days and the time excess laid down in the bike insurance policy’s schedule.

Please note that if you delay taking the delivery of your bike once it’s repaired and ready, the benefit will not be paid for this period of delay.

  • If your bike has been stolen and is recovered, the benefit under this add-on will be paid till the date of the recovery. This is subject to the maximum number of days you can pick up under your bike insurance plan.
  • You can raise a maximum of two claims under this add-on for every policy period.

The add-on under Go Digit Bike Insurance will not provide coverage for the general exceptions listed in the bike insurance policy and also in the following cases -

  • Any time excess picked by you and specified in the policy’s schedule.
  • If your bike insurance is not valid.
  • If the own damage claim you’ve made is not payable or admissible under your policy.
  • If you repair your bike at a repair shop not authorised by Digit.
  • Any losses stemming from riots, strikes, or Act of God events.
  • If the loss for which you’ve made a claim is already covered under any other insurance plan.
