What Does It Cover?

Section I: Own Damage & Loss

Acko General Two-Wheeler Insurance provides protection for your vehicle and its accessories in the following situations –

  • Burglary, housebreaking, or theft
  • Fire, explosion, self-ignition, or lightning
  • Riot and strike
  • Flood, hailstorm, typhoon, storm, tempest, inundation, hurricane, cyclone, frost
  • Earthquake (including fire and shock damage)
  • Damage caused by accidental external events
  • Acts of terrorism
  • Malicious acts
  • Landslide or rockslide
  • While in transit by road/rail/inland waterway/lift/elevator/air

There is a deduction for depreciation applied to replaced parts and the rates are as follows –

  • Rubber, nylon, plastic parts, tires, tubes, batteries, and airbags: 50% depreciation.
  • Fibreglass components: 30% depreciation.
  • Parts made of glass: No depreciation.
  • All other parts, including wooden parts, follow this depreciation schedule –

  • In the case of painting, a 50% depreciation rate is applied only to the cost of materials used for the painting. The insurer will consider the material cost to be 25% of the total painting charges when applying depreciation in case of  a consolidated bill.

Section II: Liability to Third Parties

Acko General Two-Wheeler Insurance will provide coverage for –

  • Injury or death of any person.
  • Damage to property, excluding property owned by you, held in trust, or under your custody or control.

Section III: Personal Accident Cover for Owner-Driver

Personal Accident (PA) Cover in bike insurance shields you financially from physical disability or death resulting from an accident. This coverage is bundled with your vehicle insurance, just like general insurance that provides financial compensation.

Acko General Two-Wheeler Insurance will provide coverage for death or bodily injury suffered by the owner-driver, as outlined in the following table –

What is Excluded from Coverage?

Acko General Two-Wheeler Insurance will not cover expenses related to –

  • Consequential loss, depreciation, wear and tear, mechanical or electrical failures, or breakages.
     
  • Damage to tires and tubes unless your vehicle is also damaged at the same time, in which case the company's liability is limited to 50% of the replacement cost.
     
  • Any accidental damage or loss that occurs when you or anyone driving the vehicle with your permission is intoxicated or under the influence of drugs.
     

Insured Declared Value (IDV)

The IDV represents the estimated market value of your two-wheeler. It is the highest amount (the sum assured of your two-wheeler insurance policy) you can receive when making a claim. The IDV fluctuates annually because of depreciation.

Here are the depreciation rates for determining a vehicle’s IDV –

General Exceptions

Acko General Two-Wheeler Insurance will not provide coverage for –

  • Loss, damage, or liability that occurs outside the specified geographical area.
     
  • Claims arising from contractual obligations.
     
  • Loss, damage, or liability when your vehicle is used in ways not allowed by the ‘Limitations as to Use’ section or is driven by anyone other than the designated driver stated in the driver's clause.
     
  • Loss or damage to any property or any resulting expenses or consequential losses.
     
  • Liability, of any kind, directly or indirectly caused by ionising radiations or contamination from nuclear fuel or nuclear waste produced from nuclear fuel combustion. Here, combustion means any self-sustaining nuclear fission process.
     
  • Loss, damage, or liability directly or indirectly caused or influenced by nuclear weapons material.
     
  • Loss, damage, or liability resulting from war, invasion, foreign enemy actions, hostilities, civil war, mutiny, rebellion, military or usurped power, or any direct or indirect consequences of these events. If you want to make a claim, you need to show that the accident, damage, or responsibility was not related to any of the mentioned events and if not, the insurance company will not pay for the claim.

In case of a claim, you must demonstrate that the loss, damage, or liability occurred independently and had no connection with, contribution from, or traceability to any of the mentioned events or their consequences. If such proof is not provided, the company will not be obligated to make any payment for the claim.


?Add-Ons Available with Acko General Two-Wheeler Insurance

1. Consumables Cover
For an extra premium, the insurer will cover the costs of consumable items in case of an accident-related claim during the policy period, as long as it is eligible under Section I of the base policy for your vehicle.

Consumable items under this add-on refer to engine oil, gearbox oil, lubricants, nuts, bolts, screws, distilled water, grease, oil filters, bearings, washers, clips, brake oil, air conditioner gas, and similar items. However, fuel expenses incurred during the repair of your vehicle are excluded.

Note: Certain conditions will be applicable.

2. Downtime Allowance Cover
If your vehicle meets with an accident, which is eligible for a valid claim, during the policy period, the insurer will either pay a  fixed amount daily, provide you with reimbursable coupons of similar value, or arrange an alternative mode of transportation of a similar category.

This benefit is provided for the duration taken to repair your vehicle at a garage approved by your insurer. It starts either from the date you report the claim to the insurer or from the date you submit the vehicle for repair at the approved garage, whichever is later. It continues until the repair is completed or for the number of days specified in the add-ons schedule, whichever comes first. The daily amount will be paid after the fixed number of days specified in the add-ons schedule.

In the case of a theft or total loss claim, the insurer will provide a lump sum amount for a period of 10 days under this add-on.

The insurer will not provide coverage if -

  • The claim under Section I of the main policy is not valid and eligible.
  • The time needed to repair the vehicle is equal to or less than the minimum number of days mentioned in the Schedule.

Note: Specific conditions will be in effect.

3. Engine Protect Cover
By paying an extra premium, the insurer will reimburse repair or replacement costs due to consequential damages to the internal parts of the engine, gearbox, differential assembly caused by water entry, hydrostatic lock, or coolant/lubricating oil leakage in the vehicle up to the amount stated in the add-ons schedule.

The insurer will not provide coverage for -

  • Repairs or replacements that result from the regular wear and tear of your vehicle or any repairs conducted by you without informing the insurer.
     
  • Repairs or replacements arising from an accident while the vehicle is driven under the influence of alcohol or drugs or violating the law, including underage driving, illegal racing, or driving without a valid government-issued licence.
     
  • Loss or damage such as corrosion of engine and/or gear box due to delay in notifying the insurer or removing the vehicle from the water logged area.
     
  • Claims where the subject matter is covered under another insurance policy with a different insurer, manufacturer's warranty, recall campaign, or other similar packages concurrently.
     
  • The cost of lubricants in cases of loss due to leakage and consumable flushing.
     
  • Claims reported to the insurer more than 30 days after the loss or damage occurred.
  • Any claim for which repairs were done without getting permission from Acko in advance.
     
  • Claims where the repair is done without getting prior approval from the insurer.
  • Claims related to loss or damage due to wear and tear.

4. Invoice Cover
If you pay an extra premium, the insurer will compensate you for the gap between your Insured Declared Value (IDV) and the invoice value or the most recent manufacturer invoice value, whichever is lower if your vehicle is stolen, declared a total loss, or is deemed a constructive total loss during the policy period.

The total expenses shall encompass any road tax and registration charges that relate to the new vehicle and the claim must be eligible under Section I of the policy.

The insurer will not provide coverage if -

  • The stolen vehicle is recovered within 90 days of the theft.
  • The police authorities do not issue a FIR for a theft claim.
  • Any non-built-in electrical/electronic and non-electrical/electronic accessories, including bi-fuel kits, that are part of the invoice but not covered under Section I of the policy.

5. Key Protect Cover
When you pay an additional premium, the insurer will reimburse you for the expenses incurred in replacing your vehicle's key if it is lost, stolen, or damaged. Additionally, it covers the cost of repairing the lock-set if it is damaged. The replaced keys, lock, or lockset should be of the same type as the one for which the claim is made. Key replacement is applicable only for broken or damaged keys. If the key is stolen, the entire set, including the key, lock, and lockset, will be replaced.

Any loss or damage to the keys, lock, or lockset must be reported to the insurer within 30 days of the incident. If your claim is related to burglary or theft, you must provide a First Information Report (FIR) filed with the police.

Please note that making a claim under this add-on won't impact your eligibility for a No-claim bonus when renewing your policy.

The insurer will not provide coverage for -

  • Damage or loss to keys, locks, or locksets resulting from malicious activities or deliberate criminal acts.
  • Loss or damage that falls under the manufacturer's warranty.
  • Claims where you cannot provide invoices or receipts for the payments made.
  • Loss or damage caused by radiation, radioactive contamination, or hazardous properties of explosive, corrosive, invasive, or toxic substances.
  • Loss or destruction or damage to any part of your vehicle except for the keys, its associated lock, ignition system, any immobiliser, infra-red handset, and the alarm attached to the fob.
  • Any kind of consequential losses.

6. Loss of License/RC Cover
If your government-issued driving licence or registration certificate is stolen or lost during the policy period, the insurer will provide  a fixed amount,  in exchange for an extra premium. The benefit is applicable only if your claim is backed by a First Information Report (FIR) filed with the police.

7. NCB Protect Cover
If you pay an additional premium, you can retain your current No Claim Bonus (NCB) at the time of policy renewal, even if you make a claim during the policy period.

Special Conditions

  • The total number of claims reported during the policy period should not exceed the number specified in the add-ons schedule.
  • Claims for theft or total loss won't count as a claim, and your current No-claim bonus will be preserved if you buy a two-wheeler package policy from the insurer within 3 years from the theft or total loss.
  • Claims for partial theft of accessories or parts will not be considered as claims under this coverage.

8. Outstation Emergency Cover
If your vehicle breaks down or is involved in an accident at a distance of more than 100 kilometres from your place of residence during the policy period, the insurer will provide the amount specified in the add-ons schedule in exchange for an extra premium.

Special Conditions

  • The repair time for your vehicle from the time of the accident or breakdown must exceed 12 hours.
  • The insurer’s maximum liability under this add-on will be limited to the number of eligible claims specified in the add-ons schedule.
  • Claims made under this add-on will not be considered when calculating No-claim bonus.

9. Damage to Personal Belongings Cover
In case of an accident involving your vehicle during the policy period, the insurer will cover the cost of repairing or replacing your personal belongings kept inside your vehicle, with applicable depreciation, up to the sum insured specified in the add-on schedule. This add-on is available at a certain extra cost.

To get coverage under this add-on, your claim must be eligible under Section I of the base policy of your vehicle.

Any amount payable under this add-on will be adjusted for depreciation based on the age of your personal belongings, as per the data provided below –

The insurer will not provide coverage for claims that are reported to the insurer more than 30 days after the loss occurred.

10. Personal Belongings (Including Electronic Equipment) Cover
In case of an accident, theft, or burglary of your vehicle during the policy period, the insurer will cover the loss of your personal belongings kept inside the vehicle, taking into account applicable depreciation, up to the sum insured specified in the add-on schedule. This add-on is available for an additional premium.

Your claim must be backed by a First Information Report (FIR) from the police and you need to provide written proof of ownership or proof that you have care, custody, and control of the portable electronic equipment.

Any amount payable under this add-on will be adjusted for depreciation based on the specified percentage below –

The insurer will not provide coverage for -

  • Loss of stored data or recreation of such stored data.
  • Damage to electronic equipment caused by your own fault.
  • Loss that occurs in open-top or convertible cars unless your belongings are stored in the locked boot.
  • Loss of personal belongings unless your vehicle is locked, and all doors and windows are properly secured when left unattended.
  • Loss of or damage to belongings related to any trade or business activities.
  • Claims reported to the insurer more than 30 days after the loss occurred.

11. Personal Belongings – Theft Cover
In case of an accident, theft, or burglary of your vehicle during the policy period, the insurer will reimburse you up to the sum insured for the loss of your personal belongings kept inside your vehicle, accounting for applicable depreciation.

Your claim must be backed by a First Information Report (FIR) with the police and you need to provide written proof of ownership or proof that you have care, custody, and control of the portable electronic equipment.

Any amount payable under this add-on will be adjusted for depreciation based on the specified percentage below  –

  • Loss in open-top or convertible cars, unless your belongings are stored in the locked boot.
  • Loss of personal belongings unless your vehicle is locked, and all doors and windows are securely closed when left unattended.
  • Loss of or damage to belongings related to any trade or business activities.
  • Claims reported to the insurer more than 30 days after the loss occurred.

12. Roadside Assistance Cover
This add-on gets active only if you pay an extra premium for it along with your regular vehicle insurance. With this add-on, you can request the following emergency assistance services from the insurer during the policy period, if they are specified as active in the add-ons Schedule.

  2. Emergency Towing
  3. Taxi Support
  4. Battery Jumpstart
  5. On-spot Repair
  6. Spare Key Retrieval
  7. Fuel Support
  8. Hotel Search Assistance.
  9. Pick-up of the vehicle.
  10. Legal Advice.
  11. Assistance in emptying the fuel tank if the vehicle is filled with the wrong fuel.

13. Zero Depreciation Cover
This add-on will compensate you for the depreciation amount deducted on the replaced parts in case of a partial loss claim resulting from accidents during the policy period - in exchange for an additional premium.

Special Conditions

  • The insurer will only accept a limited number of claims for the depreciation amount, as specified in the add-ons schedule.
  • Your claim must be eligible under Section I of the base policy of your vehicle.
  • A claim that does not involve the replacement of any part and does not include any deduction for depreciation under the own damage claim will not be regarded as a claim covered by this policy.

The insurer will not provide coverage for the depreciation related to the replacement of tires and tubes, unless specified otherwise in the add-ons schedule. And, this add-on will not apply in the event of a total loss or constructive total loss of your vehicle under the policy.
