Bajaj General Insurance is India's 2nd largest private general insurer, now 100% owned by Bajaj Finserv and its promoter group following Allianz SE's complete exit in March 2026. IRDAI Reg. No. 113. It covers health, motor, travel, home, pet, cyber, and commercial
insurance. ICR: 87.31% (IRDAI FY 2024-25). 8,000+ network hospitals, 6,500+ cashless garages.
About Bajaj General Insurance Company Limited
Bajaj General Insurance Company Limited was incorporated on 2 May 2001 and received its IRDAI certificate of registration to conduct general insurance business in India. Originally established as a joint venture between Bajaj Finserv Limited and Germany's Allianz SE, it operated for over two decades as Bajaj Allianz General Insurance — one of India's most recognised insurance brands.
In March 2025, Allianz SE signed a binding agreement to sell its entire 26% stake in the joint venture to Bajaj Finserv and its promoter-group companies. The business was rebranded Bajaj General Insurance in October 2025, carrying the campaign '100% Bajaj. Made in India. Made for India. Made by India.' Allianz's exit was completed in two tranches: Bajaj Group's holding rose to 97% on 8 January 2026, and Allianz tendered its remaining 3% through a share buyback on 12 March 2026, making Bajaj General Insurance a fully-owned Bajaj Group subsidiary. All existing Bajaj Allianz policies remain fully valid under identical terms — only the brand name
changed.
Today, Bajaj General is India's 2nd largest private general insurer, with a market share of roughly 7.6% of private-industry gross direct premium (10M FY 2025-26). It has insured 14 crore+ customers, operates across 1,100+ cities and towns, holds an [ICRA]AAA credit rating, and maintains a solvency ratio well above the
IRDAI-mandated minimum.

For every Rs.100 collected as premium, Bajaj General paid out Rs.87.31 in claims during FY 2024-25. IRDAI publishes ICR as the standard metric for general insurers — not a separate Claim Settlement Ratio (CSR). An ICR between 75-95% is generally considered healthy for a diversified general insurer, reflecting strong claims
payment while maintaining financial resilience across health, motor, and other lines.

Important: Bajaj Allianz is now Bajaj General Insurance
Bajaj Allianz General Insurance was rebranded Bajaj General Insurance in October 2025, and Allianz SE's full exit from the shareholding was completed on 12 March 2026. If you have an existing Bajaj Allianz policy, it remains valid with no change in coverage, terms, or claim process. Your policy number, sum insured, renewal date, cashless network, and contact number are all unchanged. Policy documents issued going forward carry the Bajaj General Insurance name and
logo.

Why Buy Bajaj General Insurance Through SMC Insurance?
SMC Insurance is an IRDAI-registered composite broker (Reg. No. 289) — not a corporate agent or
direct agent of Bajaj General. This distinction matters:
- Unbiased comparison: SMC compares Bajaj General plans with 20+ other insurers to find the policy that fits your requirement and budget.
- Zero additional cost: The premium you pay through SMC is identical to buying direct. Brokers are compensated by the insurer, not the buyer.
- Claim support: SMC provides end-to-end claim assistance — documentation, follow-up, and escalation with the insurer.
- Expert guidance: 15+ years of broking experience across health, motor, and commercial lines helps you navigate plan options, add-ons, and exclusions.
- Renewal tracking:
SMC proactively tracks policy renewals to prevent lapses and loss of accumulated No Claim Bonus or waiting period continuity.

Reimbursement is credited to your registered bank account after document
verification.

FAQs
Yes. Bajaj General Insurance is the official new name for Bajaj Allianz General Insurance, adopted in October 2025. Bajaj Finserv and its promoter group acquired Allianz SE's entire 26% stake in stages, completing full ownership on 12 March 2026. All existing Bajaj Allianz policies remain valid under the same terms, same policy number, same sum insured, and same renewal date. Nothing changes for existing policyholders except the brand name.
Bajaj General Insurance's Incurred Claim Ratio (ICR) for FY 2024-25 is 87.31%, as published in the IRDAI Annual Report 2024-25. For every Rs.100 collected as premium, the company paid Rs.87.31 in claims. IRDAI publishes ICR as the standard metric for general insurers. An ICR between 75-95% is considered healthy for a diversified general insurer. SMC Insurance only displays IRDAI-published ICR data — never self-reported figures.
Bajaj General Insurance's own website states a network of 8,000+ empanelled cashless hospitals PAN India. This network covers all major metros, state capitals, and a strong presence in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities. You can search for network hospitals by state, city, or hospital name at bajajgeneralinsurance.com under the Branch, Network Hospital & Garage Locator.
Bajaj General Insurance's own disclosures state a solvency ratio of 355% (3.55x) — well above the IRDAI-mandated minimum of 150% (1.50x). ICRA has assigned the company an [ICRA]AAA rating consistently since FY 2005-06. A high solvency ratio means the company has more than sufficient financial reserves to meet all outstanding and future claim obligations even under stress scenarios.
No, for individual/retail policies. Effective 22 September 2025, the Government of India reduced GST on individual health insurance policies — including personal accident and travel cover sold as part of a health insurance product — to 0%. This means premiums for eligible Bajaj General retail health plans are lower compared to pre-September 2025 rates. The benefit applies to both new purchases and renewal of existing eligible policies. Group/employer-sponsored policies may be treated differently; confirm applicability for your specific policy type.

Add-ons are available only under the comprehensive policy variant.
Yes. Under IRDAI portability guidelines, you can port your existing health insurance from any insurer to a Bajaj General plan without losing accumulated waiting-period credits.
