Under MGNREGA, the guarantee was a minimum of 100 days of wage employment per household per financial year, with additional days in drought-notified areas or for certain Scheduled Tribe households in forest areas. Under the new VB-G RAM G Act, effective from 1 July 2026, this guarantee increases to 125 days per household per financial year.
